Vestment Making Seminars
Many people have asked for a class to learn how to make their first vestment. So we have decided to offer a few this summer to see how it goes (for you and for us). Seminars run 3 days. In this time you will make the complete vestment and all its parts to take home with you. You may choose the color of the vestment but we are choosing the style so that everyone can make the same basic vestment. The vestment pictured is the style you will be making. This class will teach you:
- How to make your own fabric orphrey.
- How to apply trim and gt it straight.
- Getting the vestment to lay right
- Putting in lining the easy and foolproof way.
- Tips and tricks of the trade.
- Burse construction.
I will also be glad to answer any questions you have about an ongoing project. Cost includes all supplies needed to do one complete set. A partial list of what you receive includes:
- Pattern (Latin (Roman) style
- 5 yards of brocade fabric
- 1 yard of metalic gold brocade to be used for orphrey fabric
- 5 yards of satin lining fabric
- 8 yards of 1" gold metallic trim
- 5 yards of 1/2 inch metallic trim.
- IHS or Chi Rho applique
- Notions such as matte board, stitch witchery, elastic, tapes, thread, etc.

Bed and Breakfast accommodations at the convent are available for an additional $100 for the three days.
Arrangements can be made to pick you up at the airport, train or bus.
Classes have very limited enrollment, and require a $75 non-refundable deposit. The remainder can be paid upon arrival.
